Our Story

About the Chef

Born and raised in New York, our chef’s culinary journey began at an early age in the kitchen of his father’s restaurant. Surrounded by the aroma of spices and the rhythm of a busy kitchen, he discovered his passion for cooking—and never looked back.

With over two decades of experience, he has been a professional chef since 2000. His career has spanned college campuses and fine dining establishments alike, serving as the head chef at institutions such as Tennessee State University, Howard University, Bethune-Cookman University, Miles College, and Lawson College. His leadership and creativity in the kitchen have left a lasting impression on students, faculty, and guests across the country.

He has held the title of Executive Chef at Price in Alabama and George’s in Virginia, where his menus earned praise for their bold flavors and refined execution. His talents have also taken him into the world of private dining, cooking for numerous celebrities—including the honor of preparing a meal for Michelle Obama during a special event at Hampton University in 2014.

 

Driven by passion and rooted in tradition, the chef continues to craft memorable culinary experiences with every dish he creates.

Fancy Fixin’s is a family-owned culinary business rooted in love, legacy, and community. Founded by nephew Dion Futch, a proud Virginia native, and his uncle, Chef Ed Young, a seasoned chef known for bringing people together through food—Fancy Fixin’s is built to serve and uplift.

Dion has spent his life in Virginia, committed to creating positive, lasting impact in the place he calls home. Chef Ed has been a cornerstone in the community for years, preparing unforgettable meals for family functions, church gatherings, and special events. Together, they formed Fancy Fixin’s to expand that tradition—offering fresh, flavorful meals to the community and beyond.
